michel amato aka the hacker is without a doubt one of the most successful and accomplished french djs and producers. since 1992 he is part of the international techno szene, widely acclaimed as a solo artist as well as persuing thriving projects with miss kittin. he is a rare gem ... an artists who always stayed true to his style and his early musical influences of bands such as cabaret voltaire, throbbing gristle, einstürzende neubauten, depeche mode or joy division. for his new satori ep on correspondant he makes no exception! originally hailing from mexico, daniel proclaimed disco caveman and rising comeme (matias aguayos label), transforms michels white funk into a psychedelic disco track. the remix unmistakably bears his signature: it is a maloso. offsets remix is a crawling monster. he digged deep and the result is a dark and hypnotic remix of white funk.

as a follow up to the last years >radio anatomy< we are excited to present the >last day here ep< by brioski. it is a stellar effort from the talented italian and we are all feeling that he has really come into his own with this one. brioskis inspiration spans hiphop, funk, soul, disco, chicago house & techno, edging towards balearic / psychedelic atmospheres with deep percussive roots and old-school tendencies. combine this with some italian originality and a love for vintage gear and you are halfway there.

the project, conceived by colombian musician mario galeano, the force behind the band frente cumbiero, and english producer will holland aka quantic, brings together an iconic group of top colombian musicians representing both the classic and more modern styles of la musica colombiana!
ondatropica fuses traditional colombian styles such as cumbia, gaita and champeta with boogaloo, ska, beat-box, mcs, dub and funk to create a progressive album that re-interprets the tropical musical heritage of colombia with new approaches in composition, arrangement and production. artists such as fruko, anibal velasquez, michi sarmiento, alfredito linares and wilson viveros (to name a few) joined a group of younger colombian musicians, including members of both marios band frente cumbeiro and quantics combo barbaro, to (re)generate the excitement that positioned colombian music as one of the most influential in south america.

t.c. matic were a belgian rock band formed in the early 80s by arno hintjens and jean marie aerts (who would go on to produce albums by urban dance squad and absynthe minded). they played a mix of new wave, blues, funk, hard rock, avant garde and even some french chansons. their eclectic mix and experimental approach to music would have a great impact on belgian bands such as deus and zita swoon. their eponymous album t.c. matic from 1981 has their biggest hit >o la la la< on it, a song that can still rock the dance floors today.

2012 sees detroit label, kms records, celebrating its 25th anniversary. founded in 1987, by kevin maurice saunderson, his first release was triangle of love produced by, kreem, (just one of his many guises), little did saunderson know, at that time, that two and a half decades later, he would still be releasing music on his kms label.

magneto is a bulky 4/4 kicker which is built around stuttering vocals and shadowy synth waves. morbius is the dub figure on the ep, stripped back of any fuss, this track lets the bass do the talking. mystique on the b side is a real acidic mover, this one is all about the melody with as much funk in it as it has pace. jeroen search steps up for remix duties and delivers his interpretation of mystique, this mix retains the originals groove but adds a cold hypnotic melody across the middle.

new clone basement series (lucky number 013!) with the long awaited return of a made up sound (aka 2562), following up on his archive ep/cbs02. written as a counterbalance to the more experimental releases on his own amus label series, archive ii finally unleashes whats possibly his most banging, straight-forward club material to date, while retaining the trademark a made up sound funk and swing.hang-up is all about the irresistible herbie-injected groove, cut-up and layered to great effect, whereas things get darker and bass-heavier with technotrack sweetback on the flip. keeping the tension high till a drop towards the end, seven minutes never seemed so short. a great first number 013 release and we cant wait to hear some of our favourite djs play the tracks out loud. another proper banger on the clone basement series!

welcome reisssue for monster soul-funk lp >disconnection<, one of the most obscure and sought-after releases from top 70s disco label, prelude. ridiculously expensive and hard-to-find in the original, this album is stuffed full with killer tracks spanning warm, soulful disco, high-stepping groove and boogie-heavy funk all written and produced by robert holmes. standouts include the jazzy free-style >dead on the case<, later reworked for the mysterious french skyline project, cool jazz-funk groover >bay city<, recently edited by none other than balearic maestro lexx, and the floor-friendly chunky funk workout >cash money<. however no track is a filler on this superb album which fully deserves its holy grail status with collectors. essential!

back and cooking up more funk and flavor with his second album for rekids, mr g proves hes still the king of rhythm with state of flux. packing more history than most of the top current producers put together, mr g has been fine-tuning his breed of music for two decades. described by the man himself as its all about a bassline, his music takes the formula of a ballad and the movement of reggae.

years after delivering a remix for booka shade in 2006, shinedoe makes her solo debut on get physical this winter, bringing with her a wonderfully fresh sound in the form of her transcendental ep. she takes us to the tops of mountains and then drags the deepenst waters. light is a deep mix of techno cascades and funk groove. we build up momentum with piano and driving percussion toward a climactic break, then pull you further into the vibe. transcendental brings a treat of dazed synth and organic percussion. a trip into the music brings us to the dark rooms of late night. we are entranced with thick bass and hypnotic repetition throughout the course of the dancefloor friendly track. next we are immediatly entrapped by the muffle of cosmic, under a thick sheet of foggy ambience. vocal cuts stab the air, setting the pace for a sudden bass groove. the track is deep, solid and very detroit.

theres no need to do a big introduction of deep space orchestra. si murray and chris barker have releases on a number of heavyweight labels (e.g. delusions of grandeur or use of weapons) and regular guest appearances at club nights and radio shows throughout the uk and rest of the world. their second ep for quintessentials is some raw and analogue business topped with the dso funk! wolf music hot shot krl adds some piano and old school power on his remix and we must admit were delighted!
